Microchip Exposure & Bluetooth Vocabularies: A Meditation on Tech Aesthetics
The Archival Aesthetics: Environment and Object universe has once again expanded with a visual discussion of “Tech Aesthetics”. Reese Riley and Gergo Kovacs return with their roster of visual artists, contemplating the tech object as both a plasma-screened deity and an extension of human interactivity. Accompanying mix by Born In Flamez.
“The mythic tech object is a metallic wizard that we let into the fossilized tombs of our psyche. Tech aesthetics will explain this ritual by slowing the move down into a composition of properties and processes that make up our obsession with the tech object. Suddenly, as we aestheticize the tech object, we start to see microprocessors as distinct from the chain of causes that veils them in the rapid blur of dynamism that we call functionality. The sublime feeling of smashing a TV, or seeing a microchip peak from the corner of a shattered iPhone, exposes this need to comprehend these condensed knots of energy, to develop an aesthetic of the tech microcosms that hide behind smooth steel.”
